The Northeast Guilford Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 86-57 loss at the hands of Carlisle. The match was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Northeast Guilford struggled afterwards.
When it comes to explaining why Northeast Guilford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dennis Fountain. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Alijah White, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Carlisle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Trey Beamer led the charge by shooting 6-for-8 from deep and dropping a triple-double on 28 points, 12 rebounds, and ten assists. That's the first time this season that Beamer posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Branson Leduc-Mattox, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Northeast Guilford has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Carlisle, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-7.
Northeast Guilford will head out on the road to square off against NCSSM: Durham at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Carlisle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Cross at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully North Cross focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Thursday.
