The Central Knights will head out to challenge the Lincoln Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Lincoln will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Central extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Knights walked away with a 5-1 victory over Toll Gate.
Jonas Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Central is undefeated when Diaz allows two or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Maikel Soriano was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Yadiel Ventura, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Toll Gate only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Lincoln's offense. They fell just short of Cranston West by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Lincoln also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Isaac Cabral gave up only one earned run on two hits.
At the plate, Lincoln saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Mellen, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Mellen has snagged this season.
Central pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Central was able to grind out a solid win over Lincoln in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-5. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
