The Marble Falls Mustangs were the 45-33 winner over the Lago Vista Vikings when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Marble Falls took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings on Friday. Marble Falls' loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it four in a row.
Lexie Edwards and Bethany Fry certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Edwards scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four blocks, while Fry scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 42.9% of Marble Falls' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Lago Vista's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Kinslow, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Saylor Stamos, who scored ten points along with two blocks.
Marble Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 7-23. As for Lago Vista, their win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-19.
Marble Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lago Vista will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Burnet will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
