Softball Recap: Redmond Extends Winning Streak to Six

Redmond had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Juanita Ravens. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in June of 2021.

Ainsley Barcalow was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Livy Ruess, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Bauer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Redmond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.

Redmond pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Juanita, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Redmond will head out to challenge Liberty at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Redmond's pitchers better be ready for this one: Liberty has averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Juanita, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Juanita Ravens take on Issaquah Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. They will need to watch out since Issaquah has now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
