Basketball Recap: Ponderosa Comes Up Short

Ponderosa suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by the Roseville Tigers 73-45. The matchup marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Several Bruins players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angel Flores, who went 7 of 9 en route to 19 points. With that strong performance, Flores is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Another player making a difference was Jake Wycinsky, who posted nine points.

Oreste Yong was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards for Roseville. What's more, Yong also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Preston Bick was another key player, going 7 of 12 on his way to 18 points.

Ponderosa's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Roseville, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Ponderosa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-47 loss against Lincoln on the 13th. As for Roseville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-39 defeat against Del Oro on the 13th.
