The Mattanawcook Lynx will head out on the road to take on the Dexter Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mattanawcook is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
On Wednesday, Mattanawcook got the win against Lee Academy by a conclusive 20-2. Fans of the Lynx have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Julianna Cloukey made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Cloukey was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Cyr, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Megan House, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
Mattanawcook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Bucksport hit Dexter with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers came up short against the Golden Bucks, falling 8-2. The Tigers have struggled against the Golden Bucks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Dexter saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Desiree Adams, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Mattanawcook's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Dexter, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Everything went Mattanawcook's way against Dexter in their previous meeting on Tuesday, as Mattanawcook made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lynx since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
