The Stewarts Creek Red Hawks were the 73-59 winner over the Smyrna Bulldogs when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. Stewarts Creek was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 74-73 to Smyrna. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Tyreque Mccarver, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and six rebounds for Smyrna. Another player making a difference was Jalylle Batey-roberts, who scored 17 points.
Stewarts Creek now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Smyrna, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11.
Stewarts Creek will take on Cookeville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Smyrna won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
