Dayton put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Truckee Wolverines as the Dayton Dust Devils made off with a 7-1 win. Donnita Wass spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kiley Paterson, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Esmeralda Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Dayton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Truckee only posted a batting average of .125.
Dayton's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Truckee, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.
