Indianapolis Lutheran dropped down to 13-5 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 14-2 to the Franklin Central Flashes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saints of the 9-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Indianapolis Lutheran saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leyla Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
As for Franklin Central, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-10. Considering they have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
On Franklin Central's side, Olivia Starr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Starr has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other pitching news, Kiley Renick looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Franklin Central let Audrina Yorn and Olivia Raymann run wild. Yorn went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Raymann went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most doubles Yorn has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Safiyah Shankle, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Indianapolis Lutheran will host Greenwood Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Franklin Central, they will welcome Fishers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Tigers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
