The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Lake Norman Charter Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Northwest Cabarrus fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against South Rowan on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 9-8. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Raiders: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Norman Charter). They blew past Concord 16-3 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Pearce Conklin made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lake Norman Charter let Janson Kane and Corey Bean run wild. Kane scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Bean got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two doubles and two RBI. Those three hits gave Kane a new career-high. Palmer Hayes was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Lake Norman Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
With the win, Lake Norman Charter broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-5. As for Northwest Cabarrus, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
Northwest Cabarrus came up short against Lake Norman Charter when the teams last played back in March, falling 10-6. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
