Basketball Recap: Alexander Skates Past Kennesaw Mountain with Ease

Alexander won against East Paulding last Tuesday with 82 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Alexander Cougars breezed by the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs to the tune of 82-53. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Mustangs are ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alexander was led to victory by Gregory Dunson and Marquise Leslie. Dunson went 8 of 18 on his way to 22 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Leslie went 6 for 8 en route to 16 points and six boards. Dunson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Moore, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Alexander has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points per game. As for Kennesaw Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Alexander Cougars challenge the Lithia Springs Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Alexander is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. As for Kennesaw Mountain, they will be playing at home against South Paulding at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in South Paulding's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
