The Minto Lakers had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 57-39 victory over Non Varsity Opponent. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Minto also won the last time the pair played back in February.
Minto's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew David, who scored 15 points. Jeff Frank was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Minto pushed their record up to 1-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 54-139-1 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minto won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ben Eielson at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th. Non Varsity Opponent will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Rosebud-Lott at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.
