The West Elk Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Neodesha Blue Streaks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully West Elk focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
West Elk had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past Oswego, posting a 65-18 victory on the road.
West Elk's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kodi Harshman led the charge by scoring 10 points along with 6 assists and 4 steals. Makaila Gillespie was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Neodesha took care of business in their home opener on Friday (barely). They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fredonia and snuck past 38-35.
West Elk's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Neodesha, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.
West Elk suffered a grim 50-30 defeat to Neodesha in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can West Elk avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
