The Hollins Royals are taking a road trip to  challenge the Gibbs Gladiators  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday. Hollins has given up an average of 37  points per game this season, but Friday's  game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Thursday, Hollins was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap  as they fell  37-32 to IMG Academy State. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the  loss, Hollins saw an underclassman step up: freshman  Elijah Berry rushed for 72 yards and a pair of  touchdowns.  Jermaine Smith also helped with two scores in total.
 Special teams  played a big role in the game for Hollins, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of  Smith, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Gibbs can  bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game  on Friday. They snuck past Bayshore with  a  23-19 victory.
 This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to  Mario McCant and  Steven Alexis. McCant rushed for 38 yards and two  TDs while  Alexis rushed for 72 yards and one  touchdown. That's the most  rushing touchdowns  McCant has posted since back in August.
 Hollins' defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Gibbs, their  win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-6.
 Hollins came out on top in a nail-biter against Gibbs in their previous meeting  back in November of 2024, sneaking past  15-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
