The Cocke County Fighting Cocks will head out on the road to face off against the Jefferson County Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cocke County will be strutting in after a victory while Jefferson County will be coming in after a defeat.
Cocke County had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Seymour 87-60 on the road. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cocke County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Fine, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Raeshon Palmer, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Jefferson County suffered a rough 73-51 defeat at the hands of Powell last Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Jefferson County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Powell is ranked 20th).
The losses dropped Cocke County to 4-5 and Seymour to 1-7.
Cocke County came out on top in a nail-biter against Jefferson County in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 50-48. Does Cocke County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jefferson County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
