The Godby Cougars came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Wakulla at home to the tune of 63-17. The result was nothing new for Godby, who have now won six contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Godby was led to victory by Kenijah Clayton and Aniyah Lewis. Clayton scored nine points along with 13 steals and six assists, while Lewis almost dropped a triple-double on 14 points, 13 rebounds, and nine steals. That's the first time this season that Lewis pulled down eight or more rebounds. Zaniah Andrews was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Godby's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. As for Wakulla, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Godby won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Munroe at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th. Munroe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Godby is ranked 153rd). Wakulla won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Liberty County at 4:00 p.m. on December 13th. Liberty County's defense has only allowed 27.9 points per game this season, so Wakulla's offense will have their work cut out for Wakulla.
