Sandhills Valley is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Perkins County on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Sandhills Valley was beaten by Perkins County 60-33. The Mavericks were down 46-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Avery Weems, who posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Hope Correll, who had eight points and 14 boards.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Brady on Friday. They came out on top against Medicine Valley by a score of 41-31.
Sandhills Valley better keep an eye on Taryn Stearns. She was instrumental in Brady's win, going 7-for-17 to rack up 19 points and seven rebounds. Payton Stienike was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.
Brady smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.
Sandhills Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Brady, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Sandhills Valley has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Brady struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
