The Chilton County Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Calera Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Calera took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Chilton County, who comes in off a win.
Even though Prattville scored an imposing 64 points on Wednesday, Chilton County still came out on top. Chilton County snuck past the Lions with a 69-64 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Chilton County.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chilton County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Justin Godwin, who scored 16 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Godwin posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Bradin Yates, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Calera pushed their score all the way to 66 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 82-66 fall against Chelsea. While losing is never fun, Calera can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Hornets are ranked 112th).
Chilton County's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-15. As for Calera, they dropped their record down to 5-25 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Chilton County came up short against the Eagles when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 66-59. Can Chilton County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
