Kettle Falls is 1-9 against Chewelah since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Kettle Falls will venture away from home to face off against Chewelah at 4:00 p.m. Kettle Falls is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.8 runs per game this season.
If Kettle Falls beats Chewelah with 28 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Everything went Kettle Falls' way against Republic on Saturday as Kettle Falls made off with a 28-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Cody Adams made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Adams was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
In other batting news, Zac Burch and Jaxon Fandery did most of the damage at the plate: Burch scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Fandery scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Burch is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and three runs.
Kettle Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .654. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Chewelah beat Lakeside 13-8 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Luke McGuire looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk).
On the hitting side, Chewelah got a massive performance out of Ryen McMillan, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Nolan Jeanneret was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
The victory got Kettle Falls back to even at 2-2. As for Chewelah, their record is now 2-0.
Kettle Falls suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Chewelah when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Kettle Falls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
