The Moody Bearcats will head out to face off against the Valley Mills Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Moody took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bruceville-Eddy with a sharp 16-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Shelby Slaughter was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elanna Edwards, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Serenity Cortez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Moody kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Moody's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-11-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Valley Mills, their record is now 5-9.
Everything went Moody's way against Valley Mills when the teams last played back in March, as Moody made off with a 21-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
