It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Ravenscroft at home to the tune of 55-6. The victory was just business as usual for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Leading Rabun Gap-Nacoochee to victory were Gavin Owens and Tyrell Campbell. Owens threw for 130 yards and three touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes, while Campbell rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Huseyin Simsir was another key contributor, rushing for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 13-0 record. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 8-3 Sequoyah and 8-3 Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.5% over those games). As for Ravenscroft, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Rabun Gap-Nacoochee will be playing in front of their home fans against Christ School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ravenscroft does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
