Ocracoke is 2-8 against Cape Hatteras since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Ocracoke Dolphins will be staying on the road to face off against the Cape Hatteras Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
Ocracoke suffered their biggest defeat since November 13, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 72-26 loss at the hands of Columbia.
Meanwhile, Cape Hatteras scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mattamuskeet 59-14 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-7.
Cape Hatteras' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kylie Philips, who scored 16 points along with three steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Paizley Schultz, who scored 17 points.
Ocracoke's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.0 points per game. As for Cape Hatteras, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Ocracoke ended up a good deal behind Cape Hatteras in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, losing 47-30. Can Ocracoke avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
