Perry Central extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-5. They came up short against Mize, falling 12-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Perry Central has suffered against Mize since March 4, 2016.
Hayden Carr put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Carr was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
Carr wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kameron Moody, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Moody has brought in this season. Another was Cayson Backstrom, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
As for Mize, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. 12 seems to be a good number for them as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Like Perry Central, Mize also got a great game from a two-way player: Garrison Carrell. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Carrell has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other pitching news, Holder Mcalpin looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Walker Sullivan, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Tudor, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Perry Central beat Mize by a score of 8-7 on Friday.
