The Miami East Vikings stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Troy Christian 68-40 on the road. Miami East's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Leading Miami East to victory were Maryn Gross and Logan Phillips. Gross scored 16 points along with seven steals and six assists, while Phillips scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phillips has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Camryn Francis, who scored 11 points along with two blocks.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kathleen Johnson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Johnson posted two or more blocks. Riley Orange was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Troy Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Miami East pushed their record up to 18-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Troy Christian, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miami East will square off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. West Liberty-Salem is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season. As for Troy Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Twin Valley South is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
