Charlotte Christian has gone 9-1 against Charlotte Latin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Knights will face off against the Hawks at 6:45 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Charlotte Christian comes in on eight and Charlotte Latin on 14.
Charlotte Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt South Mecklenburg on Tuesday. The Knights put the hurt on the Sabres with a sharp 9-3 win.
Owen Farrell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jack McGrath was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Latin was able to grind out a solid victory over Cox Mill on Wednesday, taking the game 5-2.
Cooper Holland looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nick Smith, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Bancroft, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Charlotte Christian pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Charlotte Latin, their record now sits at 16-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Charlotte Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Latin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Charlotte Christian took their win against Charlotte Latin when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
