Malvern extended their losing streak to 15 on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-18. They came up short against the Buckeye Trail Warriors, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 on Monday.
Malvern saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Wood, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
As for Buckeye Trail, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.
On Buckeye Trail's side, Ela Patterson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Patterson has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jersey Eddy and Ella Ashby did most of the damage at the plate: Eddy got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Ashby got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Eddy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna McVicker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Malvern will venture away from home to challenge Wellsville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Buckeye Trail, they will welcome East Canton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
