The Childress Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Floydada. While losing is never fun, Childress can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 705th, while Floydada is ranked 170th).
Childress' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clarissa Gamboa, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Gamboa set a new season high mark in points with 14. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshlynn Roark, who scored ten points.
Childress has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Floydada, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Childress will be playing in front of their home fans against Slaton at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Slaton will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. Floydada's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hale Center at 6:15 p.m. on December 12th.
