Biloxi is 8-2 against Ocean Springs since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Biloxi Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. Biloxi is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
On Tuesday, Biloxi faced Harrison Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Biloxi put the hurt on Harrison Central with a sharp 47-26 win. Biloxi might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Biloxi found their leader in underclassman Zaniya Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Biloxi's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Davison, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Ocean Springs' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by St. Martin 51-13. While losing is never fun, Ocean Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while St. Martin is ranked 34th).
Biloxi's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Ocean Springs, they have fallen quite a ways from their 14-7 record last season and are now at 2-7.
Biloxi couldn't quite finish off Ocean Springs in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 and fell 33-30. Can Biloxi avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
