Neumann has gone 8-2 against Golden Gate recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Celtics will head out on the road to square off against the Titans at 6:00 p.m. Neumann is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Neumann and Oasis have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Celtics' pitcher stepped up to hand the Sharks a 3-0 shutout. The Celtics haven't had any issues with the Sharks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The result came thanks to Sophia Escobar's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jennifer Drake was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Jolie Barth also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Golden Gate hadn't done well against Everglades City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Titans narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Gators 10-8. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Titans considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Layla Garcia was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Pena, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Neumann pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Golden Gate, their win ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9.
Everything went Neumann's way against Golden Gate in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Neumann made off with a 22-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Celtics since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
