The Bovina Mustangs suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Farwell, falling 61-28. Bovina was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.
Bovina's loss came despite strong showings from Isaac Tavera and Angel Lara. Tavera scored eight points along with four steals, while Lara scored seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Tavera hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
Bovina has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for Farwell, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-9.
Bovina will be playing at home against Boys Ranch at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boys Ranch is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Farwell, they will head out on the road to challenge Highland Park at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland Park will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1388th, while Farwell is ranked 500th).
