The Konawaena Wildcats will square off against the Waipahu Marauders at TBD on Saturday. Konawaena is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Konawaena had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They strolled past the Warriors with points to spare, taking the game 37-19. Konawaena's win was all the more impressive since Kapa'a was averaging only 11.67 points allowed on the season.
Meanwhile, Waipahu faced Farrington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Waipahu made off with a 21-20 win over Farrington. Winning may never get old, but Waipahu sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Eric Stephens was the offensive standout of the matchup as he picked up 144 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Konawaena to 11-1 and Kapa'a to 8-1.
Konawaena was able to grind out a solid victory over Waipahu in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, winning 38-28. Will Konawaena repeat their success, or does Waipahu have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
