5A Region II District 10 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Bryan Driskell of Boyd ran for the longest rushing play in 5A Region II District 10 this season against Rockwall last week. Driskell ran for 72 yards on the play and finished with 220 on the day as his team topped the Yellowjackets.
Plano East extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Marcus, 38-17. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
McKinney's dynamic duo of Robert Somborn and Connor Fuentes proved tough for North Garland to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Somborn threw for 311 yards and four touchdowns and Fuentes had 219 yards receiving. Tv Williams helped McKinney's passing attack out by catching five balls for 45 yards.
The Lions' Somborn and Fuentes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Somborn has thrown for 1072 yards this season, while Fuentes has 24 catches for 400 yards. Boyd's Driskell leads the league in rushing yards with 648.
McKinney moved up to 209 from 269 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 10. A 41-18 win over the Raiders helped Jeffrey Smith's team improve its standing.
