1A/2A Cascade recap September 17, 2013
Lakewood's Paulmer Gregory rumbled for the longest rushing play in 1A/2A Cascade this season in his game against Meridian last week. Gregory's team beat the Trojans as he sprinted for 63 yards on the play and finished with 86 in all.
South Whidbey scaled the state rankings by moving to 114 from 170 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Falcons were able to make move up by besting Cedar Park Christian 21-20.
Lakewood's dynamic duo of Blake Watts and Brett Bustad proved to be unstoppable against Meridian, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Watts threw for 80 yards and Bustad had 60 yards receiving.
Dan Teeter's team's dynamic duo of Watts and Bustad proved tough for the Trojans to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Karl Sather was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 121 yards on 6 carries as King's defeated Meridian. Chris Yand also contributed to the rushing game with 43 yards on the ground.
Watts put up the best numbers in passing as Lakewood bested the Trojans.
Bustad was the best wideout in 1A/2A Cascade this week as the Cougars beat Meridian.
5-foot-11 quarterback Watts of Lakewood is the league leader in passing yards this season with 220. He has also thrown 3 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Conner Longoria. The Archbishop Murphy star has 13 catches for 172 yards.
As it stands, the Knights are in third, while Archbishop Murphy is in fifth.
King's was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, Jim Shapiro's team defeated Port Angeles 52-14.
