Baseball Game Preview: Pueblo Central Wildcats vs. Greeley West Spartans

The Pueblo Central Wildcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Greeley West Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Pueblo Central will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Pueblo Central proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Fountain-Fort Carson 4-3.

Jordan Arguello was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4.

Arguello wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brogan Golob, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Greeley West hadn't done well against Northridge recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Greeley West never let Northridge get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Spartans not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 18, 2024.

Isaiah Preciado was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Elliott Leffler, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Pueblo Central pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Greeley West, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Pueblo Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Greeley West when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 8-5. Will Pueblo Central repeat their success, or does Greeley West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
