The Asheville Christian Academy Lions struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Asheville Cougars had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The match between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Asheville Christian Academy falling 50-36. They lost against Asheville in their previous head to head back in November, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-37 score last time.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rebekah Bass, who scored four points along with five rebounds and four steals. Bass has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ansley Fuchs, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Asheville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hayziah Dillingham out in front who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Evie Bick was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
Asheville Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Asheville, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Asheville Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against High Point Christian Academy at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th. High Point Christian Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Asheville will be home for the holidays to greet Hendersonville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
