The Peebles Indians waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Williamsburg 61-26 at home. Peebles has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season.
Peebles' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Johnson is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Abigail Smalley, who scored 19 points.
Peebles pushed their record up to 14-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Williamsburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.
Peebles won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. West Union is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Williamsburg, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Rockets at 7:15 p.m. Clermont Northeastern will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 650th, while the Wildcats are ranked 316th).
