The Gulf Coast Sharks will square off against the Palmetto Ridge Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Gulf Coast comes in on six and Palmetto Ridge on three.
Gulf Coast had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Naples on Friday. The Sharks put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 8-2 win. The Sharks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Taylor Stalling made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hannah Rearden was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Melissa Hyatt also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Gulf Coast hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Naples struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Palmetto Ridge narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Cypress Lake 4-3.
Tessa Delashmet spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Teagan Delashmet, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Howell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Palmetto Ridge pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Gulf Coast, their record now sits at 12-1.
Gulf Coast beat Palmetto Ridge 8-3 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sharks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
