The Douglas Tigers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They secured a 54-50 W over Blackstone-Millville. Given Douglas' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Blackstone-Millville is ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Douglas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Adam Dunphy out in front who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Farrell, who scored 16 points.
Despite the loss, Blackstone-Millville saw an underclassman step up: Karson Cournoyer scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Cournoyer scored 15 or more points. Jackson Dunton was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Douglas pushed their record up to 6-4 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Blackstone-Millville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
Douglas won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Quaboag Regional at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Quaboag Regional is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Blackstone-Millville, they will be playing at home against Whitinsville Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
