Bangor has gone 8-2 against Camden Hills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rams will square off against the Windjammers at 4:30 p.m. Bangor is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Bangor nor Hampden made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Rams took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Rams couldn't push the score so high this time.
Emma Tripp put in work no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Tripp wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Annabelle Pierce, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Pierce has hit this season.
Camden Hills came out on top against Mt. Ararat on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Windjammers were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Eagles. The Windjammers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.
Like Bangor, Camden Hills also got a great game from a two-way player: Charlotte McGreevy. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. McGreevy was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Thea Laukka was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Adriana Pedro was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Camden Hills lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Camden Hills' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-6. As for Bangor, they dropped their record down to 6-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bangor has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Camden Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bangor suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Camden Hills in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
