Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coalgate). They blew past the Smithville Braves 12-2 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won five matchups in a row.

The team relied heavily on Dax Childers, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for Coalgate: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Trae Francis, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.

Coalgate's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Smithville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Coalgate has already played their next game, an 8-2 victory against Kiowa on the 10th. As for Smithville, they will square off against Talihina at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
