Calloway County is 0-3 against Massac County since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Lakers will square off against the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Calloway County will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs last Tuesday, then bounced right back against Murray on Wednesday. The Lakers put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 10-2 win. The Lakers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Hailee Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Audrey Overbey was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Jaylee McLeod was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Massac County entered their tilt with Shawnee on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Redskins get on the board and left with a 7-0 win.
The result came thanks to Madilyn Frazine's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Madelyn Wedeking, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Jones, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Calloway County's record now sits at 4-23. As for Massac County, their record is now 8-14.
Calloway County couldn't quite get it done against Massac County in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 as they fell 6-1. Can the Lakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
