Basketball Recap: Slidell Skates Past Chalmette with Ease

There's no place like home for Slidell, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Chalmette Owls 56-29. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Kolby Rachel had an outrageously good game as he went 5 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards. Jerry Birdlow was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.

Slidell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The victory snapped Slidell's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-8 record. As for Chalmette, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-20 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Slidell Tigers duke it out with the Northshore Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Northshore's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games. Chalmette has already played their next matchup (against Salmen), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
