The Morristown Yellow Jackets will square off against the Oldenburg Academy Twisters at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Morristown had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They walked away with a 67-54 win over the Mohawks. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Morristown.
DDanika Rutledge and Jayla Keithley were among the main playmakers for Morristown as the former dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Keithley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Alexia Rogers was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Oldenburg Academy had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.4 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Southwestern 52-24 on the road. Oldenburg Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Morristown has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season. As for Oldenburg Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 19-4.
Things could have been worse for Morristown, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-33 loss to the Twisters when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Morristown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
