Abbey Davis was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Harper, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Woodgrove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Loudoun Valley never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Rock Ridge. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Phoenix: they've now won nine in a row.
Maia Valenti and Alex Ordaz were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Valenti pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ordaz tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Valenti went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple, while Ordaz went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those five RBI gave Valenti a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Harlie Reich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Anna Ramos was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Loudoun Valley pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Woodgrove, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Woodgrove hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .431. However, it's not like Loudoun Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Woodgrove took their victory against Loudoun Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-1 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
