The Piute Thunderbirds will head out on the road to square off against the Wendover Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Piute knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Wendover likes a good challenge.
Even though North Sevier scored an imposing 58 points last Thursday, Piute still came out on top. Piute took their game against North Sevier 66-58.
Meanwhile, Wendover unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 55-43 to Tabiona.
Despite their loss, Wendover saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tre Tangaro, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Efren Delmuro, who scored ten points.
Piute pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Wendover, their loss dropped their record down to 16-3.
Piute strolled past Wendover in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 by a score of 55-39. Will Piute repeat their success, or does Wendover have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
