The Eldon Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Versailles. While losing is never fun, Eldon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Tigers are ranked 48th).
It was another big night for Ryder Williams, who scored 32 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Versailles. Williams is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 26 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reese Murdock, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Eldon has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Versailles, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.
Eldon will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Blair Oaks knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully the Mustangs like a good challenge. As for Versailles, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Warsaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
