Central Kansas recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Smoky Valley, who took down 92nd ranked Smoky Valley, 21-13.
Pratt moved up to 122 from 203 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Central Kansas. The Greenbacks were able to make the jump by beating Lyons 40-12.
Pratt's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Skylar Dean threw for 205 and four touchdowns and Mitchell Baird had 64 yards receiving. On the ground Anthony Cannata chipped in 130 yards. Shawn Ramos helped Pratt's passing attack out by catching five balls for 48 yards.
Hillsboro's Tyler Proffitt and Shaq Thiessen have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Proffitt has thrown for 762 yards this season, while Thiessen, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 11 catches for 366 yards. Cannata from the Greenbacks leads the league in rushing with 341 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Hillsboro takes on second place Smoky Valley. Last week, the Trojans defeated Hesston, while the Vikings fell to Haven.
Hillsboro extended the longest winning streak in Central Kansas this week by beating the Swathers, 33-17. The victory was the fourth in a row for Lance Sawyer's team.
