Baseball Recap: Clopton's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

If Clopton was feeling good fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Wellsville-Middletown last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Clopton fell 4-1 to the Winfield Warriors on Monday. The Hawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in March of 2019.

Peter Daskalakis was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Daskalakis was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Daskalakis is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Daskalakis wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Salmons, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Salmons is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Clopton fell to 2-1. As for Winfield, their record now sits at 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clopton will challenge Louisiana at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Winfield, they will take on Fort Zumwalt East at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
