The El Capitan Gauchos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell 58-48 to Atwater. El Capitan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Atwater apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, El Capitan still got an impressive performance from Braylen Centeno, who scored 21 points along with six steals. Diego Ultreras was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists and five steals.
El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Atwater, their win bumped their record up to 15-13.
El Capitan will be playing at home against Central Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Central Valley is coming into the game with ten straight defeats on the road, meaning El Capitan will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. Atwater does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
