Even though The New Dorp Central Cougars scored an imposing 32 points on Saturday, the Kennedy Knights still came out on top. Kennedy managed a 38-32 victory over New Dorp. For Kennedy, this counts as revenge for the 56-0 defeat New Dorp walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2019.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennedy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jakeem Griffith, who rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Derik Betances was another key contributor, rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for New Dorp, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Kennedy will head out on the road to face off against Port Richmond at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Port Richmond will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for New Dorp, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wagner at 12:00 p.m. on November 5th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Wagner is ranked 192nd, while New Dorp is ranked 211th).
